Meet Matt Macdonald
(Chef-Proprietor)
In 2000 Matt started his culinary life in Brisbane. He is classically trained and has worked in Canada, the US and Melbourne. Career highlights include cheffing at Melbourne Crown’s Italian Cecconi’s, an Age Good Food Guide 2 Chef’s Hat restaurant. He was also a part of an award-winning team in Melbourne, recipient of several gold medals for Best Australian Pizza. It was here, he learned the traditional skills of artisan pizza dough-making. With the opening of Riverfire Pizzeria in January 2023, Matt’s vision to create a modern Australian Pizzeria eatery and bar, was realised. It’s a fun open-kitchen venue, where you can watch Matt and his team at work, or take in Melbourne’s city views and Maribyrnong River.
